Vitamix for Blueberry Smoothie

Blueberries, Blueberries, Blueberries. The Super Food used in my how-to video that I'd like to share with you.  But first, a word or two about blueberries. We have all heard of carrots being good for our eyes and eyesight, but how about blueberries? Naturpaths recommend taking a standardized bilberry extract (containing 25 percent anthocyanidin) at a dose of 80 to 160 milligrams three times a day.  Or, eating a cup of blueberries is good too.

According to the Reader’s Digest book Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal, blueberries have the following health benefits:

HEALTH BENEFITS OF BLUEBERRIES

•Good source of dietary fiber.

•Excellent source of antioxidants.

•Provide some vitamin C and iron.

•May help protect against some intestinal upsets.

•May protect against urinary tract infections.

•Anthocyanins may help protect against heart disease and cancer and may help prevent memory loss.

                                                                     TIPS
I like to buy fresh organic blueberries. However, do freeze them if you won't get around to using them.

Smoothies using the Vitamix

Hi, did you know that it is so easy to use the Vitamix for all your smoothies using sugar alternatives in all your cooking and drinks these days? Most supermarkets carry these and all health food stores as well. Here are some of my favorite that I use in my how-to videos.

Sugar Alternatives
  • Agave Nectar
  • Honey
  • Stevia (Raw stevia has a great taste)
  • Black Strap Molasses
These are typically lower on the Glycemic Index. And be sure to look for Raw Stevia in the powder form -- that is by far the best tasting stevia.

VITAMIX PRODUCT REVIEW

For the past ten years since my husband bought me a Vitamix 5200, I have been creating healthy smoothies, soups and even ice cream using this powerful machine. This blender is super-charged with 2-horse power that can take nuts and seeds and liquefy them. That is why all raw food chefs have a Vitamix 5200 in their kitchens.

Since getting my Vitamix, I have eaten healthier, and so will you. Because it's easy to throw in your favorite fruits and vegetables, without having to peel them. Of course, you can't do these with all fruits such as oranges or lemons. But unlike a juicer, you do not throw out the pulp.  Therefore, you get the extra vitamins and nutrients without the messy pulp. Clean up is a breeze -- I usually rinse and then clean in the dishwasher.  Ten years later, it works like new.

If you haven't seen my video demonstrations, I have posted one below on making a base of Raw Almond Milk.

In addition, the company is fantastic with excellent customer service and a 7-year warranty. The free gifts are great and I still have my original recipe book.

Thanks for watching.
